Desmond Hume

Let me just say that Desmond is my FAVORITE character on LOST.
His entire storyline was EPIC.

Desmond David Hume was portrayed by Henry Ian Cusick.

I could NEVER have enough Desmond,
and my collection reflects my admiration for him.

Desmond's most quoted phrase is on a pillow
in my LOST room.

The back of the pillow cover repeats the quote.

One of my newly acquired, and now most cherished possessions
is a signed script from my favorite episode of LOST, "The Constant".
It is signed by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.
I hope to have it signed by Ian Cusick one day.

I commissioned a Desmond and Penny
silhouette portrait from fellow LOSTie Karen Mauro.
She incorporated Penny's letter to Desmond and THE photo
into an amazing piece.

(yep, that's a prop replica of Desmond's Failsafe key.)

"Constant" stickers by jimiyo.
I have the same design on a Tshirt from RedBubble.com

Desmond also appears on a couple of
LOST Tshirts that I purchased from teefury.com....

...and on "Constant Dilemma" by JJ Harrison

Original ACEO Sketch Card by Blackhilt Studios

I added three sketch cards of Desmond by Augustin Iglesias
to my collection. The first portrait is a limited edition ACEO
card, numbered #2/15 and is signed by the artist on the
back of the card.

The illustration is the same portrait sketch that appeared
in Pearson Moore's book, LOST Identity.
Desmond's chapter is entitled "The Seer"
and the sketch appears on page 188.

The other two Desmond cards are a little more flattering.
Both cards are #1/15 in the series.

This card has the added embellishment of Daniel Faraday's
words from his journal:
"If anything happens, Desmond Hume will be my constant."
and a Dharma Swan symbol.

Desmond, Jack, Sawyer and Arzt join the  LOST Bobble Head lineup.
They are scheduled to ship in July.
I bought two Desmond Bobble Heads.
One is displayed in my LOST room at home...

the other occupies my desk at work.

Desmond is featured in JJ Harrison's "The Constant Dilemma"
from his LOST in Comics Series.

He is appears in JJ Harrison's LOST/The Big Bang Theory Mashup
"The Big Bang Paradox"

Desmond is part of LOST: The Animated Series by Mike Myers

Desmond is included in Don Pinset's spectacular
LOST Caricature compilation print.
I hope to have my print framed shortly.
It measures 24" x 36" and is just FANTASTIC!

Original Desmond Sketch by Ryan Dunlavey

A "very tanned" Desmond appears in
LOST Chibi Print #1 by Sasha Servey.

Apparently, Desmond sings!
"Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Joey Spiotto
was included in the Bad Robot Art Experience at Gallery 1988.
My print is #62/108.

Desmond is featured on LOST: Return of the Light
by JJ Harrison.  My print is #6/109.
"Return of the Light" is the 3rd print in the triptych,
done in the style of the original Stars Wars poster.

Desmond appears in Jim MacLeod's "You All, Everybody"....

...and twice in Tyler Stout's "LOST".

Desmond is one of "The Saints of LOST"
by Scott Erickson.

Desmond and Penny - Patron Saints of Unconditional Lovers

"Not Penny's Boat" by The Little Friends of Printmaking
was the 1st print in The LOST Underground Art Project, Series II
It depicts Desmond and Charlie in the sideways timeline.
My print is #293/500.

"Desmond" by Jeff Boyes was the second  limited edition screen
print released in DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear, Series II.

My print is #404/500.

Desmond was also the subject of this amazing print by Mike Stanton, aka drMikey.
"Unstuck" #2/100
Note: I really, really, really wanted to win the
original painting of "Unstuck"
in the Cancer Gets LOST auction.
But I had to take a call a work and was outbid
at the last minute. :'(

and "See You in Another Life, Brotha"
by my son, Alex.

Alex was inspired by a series of LOST paintings done by drMikey for his
"Harmonic Resonance Project". He knew of my "fondness" for Desmond
and created the painting as a special gift for me.

Brandon Otto diptych

The individual titles of the prints are Candidates and Just Progress.
My prints are both #9/50.
Desmond is pictured in Just Progress.

I <3 Desmond!
...so I have added an 8"x10" photo canvas of Des to my office.
It certainly brightens up the place.

My son presented me with possibly
the greatest Mother's Day card ever!

***UPDATE 6/11/13***
I have often mentioned the amazing people I have met
and lifelong friendships formed through LOST.

Ian Knight aka Zort70 is one of those people.
He managed to surprise with with one of the
most magnificent gifts that I have ever received.

Ian attended Collectormania in England on May 26
and posted a photo on Twitter of Henry Ian Cusick
holding up his LOST Numbers design print.
AWESOME!!!!

This particular design is special to me
as it hung in the front window of the LOSTie
house dubbed "The Barracks" during Comic Con
2011. It now graces my kitchen door window.
It is also the lockscreen on my iPhone.

Monday's mail arrived and my neighborhood
was subjected to shrieks of joy and many tears.
The poster was for meeeeeeeeeeee!

I am overwhelmed and thrilled and stunned.
Two Ians collaborated and I am still doing my
happy dance 12 hours later.

***UPDATE 8/09/13***

I've really gone and done it!!
I commissioned a 1:9 scale Desmond action figure
to go with my LOST Megos and Swan Station Playset!!

The full story can be accessed here.
I initially dressed Desmond in Dharma jumpsuit.

But since moderation has NEVER been part of my vocabulary,
I've sewn, fabricated and purchased as many of
the wardrobe changes and props used by Desmond on LOST
as possible. I plan on making "The Adventures of Desmond"
starring my Mego Desmond.

The first episode features "Brotha Desmond".

Desmond meets Penny.

First Flash

"to share it with you would be a waste..."

"Don't I know you? How do I know you?"

"I can't do this.  Us.  This relationship."

"I can't even afford five quid for a bloody photograph."

"Penny listen.  I'm in trouble.  I think something's happened
to me.  I'm confused. I need to see you."

"I'm sorry? How is a rat running through a bloody maze so incredible?"

"I won't call for eight years. December 24, 2004. Christmas Eve."

"Lance-Corporal Desmond David Hume, your sentence is hereby complete and you are now and forever dishonorably discharged from the Royal Scots Regiment of Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Long live the Queen. Enjoy your sodding book."

A random encounter with Libby yields Desmond a sailboat.
"I thank you Elizabeth. And I will win this race...for love."

***Update 10/11/13***

Mego-Desmond is now a mini-me...
I purchased a 1:6 scale Desmond custom-sculpted
head on eBay and added body and clothes.

***UPDATE***

I met Ian Cusick AND Nestor Carbonell
at the premiere of Ian's movie,
Frank vs. God on May 30, 2014!!!
It was truly a dream come true.

  1. I did my "Unstuck" print in a mat the same color as Desmond's shirt - it is awesome! Nice collection you've got.
